Personal Injury Claims: How to Send Notifications

If you have been involved in a car accident and want to file a personal injury complaint, the first thing to do is notify the other party. Remember, there will be three parties in the case, namely you, the other party, and the insurance company. You need to worry most about the insurance company, as they are the ones who can manipulate your case to make sure you don’t win your claim.

Here are a few steps to follow as you and your attorney proceed to notify the responsible parties.

Figure out Who Is at Fault

First things first, you need to genuinely analyze who was at fault in the accident, whether it is you or the other party. Also, you need to find out if the responsible party was using their own assets (such as their own vehicle) or if they were under influence of drugs or alcohol, if the case may be.

Prepare Notification Letters

This is an important step and should be conducted in consultation with your personal injury lawyer. You don’t want to give out too much information but just enough to let them know.

Don’t Delay the Notice

Lastly, make sure you don’t delay the notice letters. Send them out in a timely manner and make the necessary follow-ups and correspondences through your lawyer. Injury claims can get stale, so the more you wait, the more you lose your chances of getting your claim.
